For this VFX Effect, I wanted to create a slash attack inside of Unity. To begin the process I started to look at references for other slash attacks already made in other games. I then went into After Effects to create the slash attack animation that was exported as PNG files when completed. Using a program called GlueIt, I was able to create the sprite sheet without spending a ton of time.

I then exported the sprite sheet into Unity and then began to tweak the particle effects settings. I then added an animation to the model sword for its idle and attacking sequences. The model shown was acquired from the Unity Asset store to help with this demonstration. Below is the sprite sheet used in the making of this effect.
